Why take the course?
Starting next season (2018/19 Summer), ANY team without a registered coach either on the bench or on the roster will not be allowed to take the ice and will forfeit the game.
- As per Ice Hockey Australia’s (IHA) requirements, EVERY team playing in a sanctioned game (BUIHL, In-house Summer Games, QJIHL…) must have a registered and qualified coach on the bench.
- In senior leagues, it is acceptable to have a player(s) as the registered coach
Who should take this course?
- Everyone interested in coaching minor hockey
- Senior team managers, captains and alternates (it is suggested that each team have 2-3 registered coaches on the roster.
- Coaches needing to re-certify their level 1 certificate (only required to attend day 2).
- If you are a registered member of the Buccaneers, this course will be free.
- Classroom venue will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
- On Ice portion of the course will be hosted at Boondall Iceworld, on day 2(the 14th), from 3:15pm-5:30pm (bring skates, helmet, stick and gloves).
Please email you interest to: email@example.com . In your email, include your name, mobile number and the team(s) that you will typically be a coach for (or who you play with). Please also indicate if you are only needing to re-certify.
Deadline to register early is September 28th. After this date the club will open up the remaining spots to be filled by persons registered with other clubs. This course is capped at 30 participants so don't delay!
